Impacted Wisdom Teeth
Wisdom teeth are commonly the last adult teeth to come through. Due to being the last of all adult teeth, when emerging in the late teens, wisdom teeth often become impacted or stuck.
When these teeth become impacted and wedged, they may cause pain and repeated gum infections.
Treatment:
Removal of wisdom teeth is a very common procedure here at Beyond Infinity Dental. Wisdom Teeth Extraction should take place as soon as problems are identified.
In any unusual or highly complex cases you may be referred to an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon as we want to ensure you receive a high standard of care.
If left untreated:
If there is enough space available, wisdom teeth will come through naturally with minimal discomfort.
If impacted/crooked wisdom teeth are left untreated severe pain may be experienced and common trapping of plaque (germs) in the gum next to the neighbouring tooth can trigger tooth decay.
We want to avoid this as this is a very important molar tooth used for chewing.
