Underbite Adjusted with Adult Braces
Condition:
Patient had an under-bite which was affecting her self image for an upcoming event. Preferring a minor surgery to eliminate a severe/intense recovery period.
Treatment:
A combination braces and tads (temporary anchorage device) was used to correct the jaw positioning and at the same time lined up the teeth. The treatment time was over an 18 month period.
Summary:
This patient’s wedding was coming up and she wanted her smile to be beautiful for the wedding. She had consulted with previous dentists and orthodontists regarding her treatment time. The patient has what is called an under-bite or bulldog looking bite, she was told only surgery could help, by chopping the jaw and resetting it back therefore would have been on liquid diet for 3 months.
A combination of braces and tads (temporary anchorage device) corrected the jaw positioning and at the same time lined up her teeth just in time for her wedding. The total treatment time was 18 months, she was extremely happy as she didn’t have to go through painful surgery and was able to smile with confidence at her wedding.
